Our decibel meter uses the Web Audio API AnalyserNode to process real-time microphone RMS amplitude data. It scales incoming signal voltage into dBA Sound Pressure Level (SPL) estimates from 30 dBA (quiet room) to 120+ dBA (extreme noise).

No. 100% private and browser-based. All microphone audio data is processed strictly inside your device's local RAM memory. Zero audio buffers are saved, recorded, or transmitted.
03.What is the difference between dBA, dBFS, and SPL decibel scales?
dBFS (Decibels Full Scale) measures digital audio signal levels relative to 0 dBFS clipping. dBA (A-weighted decibels) measures acoustic Sound Pressure Level (SPL) weighted to match human ear frequency sensitivity.
04.What are safe decibel noise exposure limits according to OSHA?
