Capacitive touchscreens function by transmitting high-frequency AC sensing signals across a grid of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) electrodes. When an unshielded or low-quality USB charger is connected, high-frequency switching noise (100kHz–1MHz) bleeds through the charger's isolation transformer onto the device ground plane.

Battery Power (Clean Signal)

Stable DC ground reference. Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) remains high, producing smooth straight lines with RMS error under 1.0px.

Unshielded Charger (High EMI)

AC ground ripple bleeds onto capacitive sense nodes, causing drawn lines to wobble, jump erratically, or trigger ghost touches.
